A child born, a helpless babe, but the king was in His heart,
Subject to the weakness of humanity, but the king did not depart.
Dedicated, yes, by the priest who knew not that day,
The Babe he held would teach all others from their hearts to obey.

The perils of life, allowed by His heavenly Father
This battle all children of humanity must fight,
Yet He refused to use the power of his might.

Familiar with poverty, privation, and self-denial,
These experiences were preparation for the day of His trial.

Days in the carpentry shop, long, but filled with joy,
A diligent worker, a giving spirit from His heart He would always employ!
Strength of character, discipline, and grace,
All He received so that we could someday choose in our hearts to embrace.

Teaching and healing so many longed for His words of pity and love,
Compassion and unchangeable tenderness poured out from His Father above.
A growing ministry, not just to the multitudes, but to His disciples as well,
Changed hearts, testified of decisions, near to Him they constantly chose to dwell.

Then came the day when all seemed to change! The crowds, the disciples…. was this to be a total loss?
Almost alone, He would tread a path teeming with betrayal, mockery
and humiliation, plus untold physical pain leading to a cruel and heartless cross.

Once hanging there, His words were few, love (His mother), promise (the thief), separation from His Father (bearing our sin) and “I Thirst”- the human side
He must do this alone, His father could not abide.

Amid the awful darkness came the loud cry, “It is finished”, from the parched lips of our Savior and Lord, who now would die.
By His life and death, this King of Kings, through great sacrifice now had made, Proved that sin can be forgiven and the law perfectly obeyed.

Gently and reverently with tears of grief, Joseph and Nicodemus removed the body of our Savior with their own hands.
Yes, they had now openly accepted Christ and did what the poor disciples could not do, before the entire world, they took their stand!

With great care they laid the lifeless form in the narrow tomb, wrapped in a linen sheet,
With coverings for his head and face, later to embalm with costly myrrh and aloes their respect would be complete.

The world suffered now….cries of woe, no healer, reports of the mock trial, no one to follow, no place to go!
Suspicion haunted the chief priests and Pharisees…remembering His words…will he rise?
It was not long before the earth began to quake and the Father called the Son, then death, Died.
The disciples were suddenly made new,
The heart of their King, they saw as never before,
What about you?
